What do you do on your first driving lesson?
Will I start to drive straight away?
These are great questions to ask your driving instructor before you book or even while on route to lesson number one, however do not worry, we will not put you on a motorway or a crazy roundabout straight away. First we will teach you the very basics.
You’ll learn all the fundamentals of the car controls. This includes the gears, the pedals, even how to set up your mirrors like a pro which is known as performing the cockpit drill.
At the end of the lesson we guarantee you will have had your first drive and much better idea of what it means to be safe behind the wheel but also possess the skills to pass you driving test and impress the pants off the examiner too!! The programming for becoming a safe driver and to be able to pass your driving test starts on your very first lesson, and you will take these new skills into every lesson.
On your first diving lesson you will need to produce your provisional licence before you start driving. Your driving instructor on the day will check that you have that. Understanding without this you cannot legally drive on the road.
Also you will be asked to read a car registration plate from a distance of 20 metres or 65 feet 7 inches away too. This is so you can read traffic road signs in plenty of time and be able to plan well ahead of yourself.
